There is no need to buy rice cooker, hair dryer and iron...which are all the things I bought and did not bring over, cos there were compatibility issues with the difference in voltage. Also, contrary to what I thought previously, the US actually sells rice! lol.
Anyway, about cameras, my advice would be to buy one in Singapore. Reason? Though its cheaper here cos they are selling old models, at the end of the day, this is a long term investment (at least in my opinion), so buy a good one, I paid 600SGD for mine! The difference would be only about 150 SGD for a old model in the US compared to a new model in Singapore. The pictures you are able to take during your 1 year here are much more precious! (:
