You can buy a lot of electrical appliances here, and at a reasonable price. Don't bring the rice cooker over, cos one costs just 20 usd here. As for printer, you don't really need it cos you can either print at home or at office. A printer is really affordable here too, usually cheaper than in Singapore. Cameras are surprisingly cheap here too! Like for 200 usd, you can get Canon powershot 700 series. You can get very good cameras at 250usd. For those of you who don't have a camera yet, just come here and buy, unless you are eyeing a new model. The models here are usually less up to date.

There is no need to buy rice cooker, hair dryer and iron...which are all the things I bought and did not bring over, cos there were compatibility issues with the difference in voltage. Also, contrary to what I thought previously, the US actually sells rice! lol. Anyway, about cameras, my advice would be to buy one in Singapore. Reason? Though its cheaper here cos they are selling old models, at the end of the day, this is a long term investment (at least in my opinion), so buy a good one, I paid 600SGD for mine! The difference would be only about 150 SGD for a old model in the US compared to a new model in Singapore. The pictures you are able to take during your 1 year here are much more precious! (:
